Let´s Gossip the Cloud. Our Podcast All About Azure.

Cloud myths, Azure costs, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps, and data: in our podcast The Cloud Gossip, Sarah and Lisa talk with glueckkanja consultants about the topics that keep customers busy in everyday project work. Soon with the customers themselves.

Let´s Gossip the Cloud. Our Podcast All About Azure.

The cloud is too expensive, too insecure, and means losing control. We hear these statements again and again in conversations with customers. Most of the time, there is an open question behind them that nobody has answered in an understandable way. That is exactly what The Cloud Gossip is for: a podcast for everyone who wants to understand cloud topics, without buzzword bingo and without deep dives.

Who's talking here?

Sarah is an Account Executive at glueckkanja and accompanies customers from first contact to successful project completion.
Lisa is an Account Operations Manager and is responsible for commercial processing and the optimization of our processes.

For each episode, we bring in a colleague from our teams, usually from the Azure unit. That way, every topic comes to the table from two directions: from the technology side and from the customers' perspective.

What we talk about

In the first podcast episode, we take on Azure as it plays out in practice. We started with the cloud myths we encounter most often in everyday work: is the cloud really more expensive, less secure, and does it mean losing control? And where does on-prem still make sense today? Which myth we would most like to bury for good, we reveal at the end. This leads straight to the question that occupies almost every customer: what does the cloud actually cost, and how do you get Azure costs under control? We explain how saving plans and reserved instances differ, how VMs can start and stop automatically without any commitment, and why three years in the cloud can be a very long time.

With our architects, we also look behind the scenes of our work. Johannes from the Azure Dev Squad explains why none of our resources are clicked together in the portal, but are created as Infrastructure as Code, versioned and traceable at any time. He also reveals what Star Wars and pets have to do with running servers. In the episode on DevOps, Christoph shows that DevOps is neither a job title nor a tool, but a culture that has long reached beyond IT, all the way into marketing. A book recommendation for everyone who wants to understand what really goes wrong in companies comes free of charge.

Many people also know the problem with data: it sits in the ERP, in Excel, and in SharePoint, and every month someone merges it by hand. With David, better known among us as Data Dave, we talk about data in Azure and about how a central data platform with Databricks, Fabric, or both solves this problem. Spoiler: we are rolling one out internally ourselves.

And of course we show what is behind our own services. Patrick presents the Cloud Workplace Foundation, our framework for Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365, and explains why dynamic scaling can save up to 80% of infrastructure costs. Finally, we take you along to our events: at the Azure Day in Munich, every solution became a city district, and Florian acted as a tour guide through Azure City with almost 50 customers. Why one customer said at the end that it felt more like family than a company, you can hear in the episode.

What comes next

So far, we have talked with colleagues. In the next episodes, our customers will have their say: they will tell us how their cloud projects went in practice, where things got stuck, and how we at glueckkanja supported them along the way.
