Online meetings

Online meetings can be scheduled or started ad-hoc. They can be set either directly via Teams or via Outlook. Participants in a channel can always see that a meeting is currently taking place and participate in it. Meetings can be recorded and later made available to other users directly on Microsoft Streams. Real-time captioning in meetings gives all participants the ability to accommodate individual listening and language skills.

Webinars

Now you can use teams to organize and host interactive meetings and webinars for up to 1,000 participants. Take advantage of end-to-end webinar support that's as easy as setting up a Teams meeting – including custom registration pages and attendee emails, multiple presentation types, presenter options like the ability to disable attendee chat and video, and post-event reports to understand participation and follow up with attendees.

Calling

Microsoft Teams supports "out of the box" Voice over IP calls between Teams clients. With the Phone System license, which is included in the Office 365 E5 plan or can be added as an add-on, Teams becomes a full-fledged phone system (PBX). On the one hand, with the Calling Plans, Microsoft provides the phone numbers to make, receive and forward calls to and from landline and cell phones in the public switched telephone network (PSTN). Second, Direct Routing lets you connect your existing PSTN connection to Microsoft Teams via an SBC (Session Border Controller).

Collaboration

Microsoft Teams promotes better team collaboration with its chat-based workspace. With integrated search capabilities and seamless access to SharePoint, OneNote and Planner, all team members can find what they need to do their job right away. Furthermore, every document shared in Microsoft Teams is stored in the cloud, so the latest version is always available. Individuals or entire teams can be addressed directly via the @mention function. In addition to team and group chats, there is also the option of 1:1 communication.

Privacy and Security

The security and compliance features in Microsoft Teams are complemented by Microsoft Security to protect your data and privacy and meet regulatory requirements. You retain control of your data and can access, modify, or delete it at any time. Microsoft uses your data only with your consent and only to provide the services you have booked. Microsoft is also committed to complying with generally applicable data protection laws, such as the GDPR, and standards, such as ISO/IEC 27018, the first international code of conduct for data protection in the cloud.
